NFDC: National Film Development Corporation presents Film Bazaar 2008 from 26th November to 29th November 2008 at Marriott Resort, Goa.
Ø Introduces a brand new “Co-Production Market Section for Documentaries”.
Ø A Co-Production Market, Screenwriters’ Lab, Pitching Sessions, A Film Conclave, Master Classes with filmmakers, & a Business lounge to be organized at the Film Bazaar
Ø “Work In Progress “Workshop where five pre selected films at rough cut stage will be mentored by advisors from India & abroad on their final cut.
29th July 2008, Mumbai : NFDC – National Film Development Corporation: The Central Agency established to encourage the Cinemas Of India returns with “Film Bazaar 2008” from November 26th to 29th 2008 at Marriott Resort, J.W. Marriott, Goa. The Film Bazaar this year will be bigger, better & more to offer than last year by introducing a brand new “Co-Production Market Section for Documentaries”.
Over these 4 days Film Bazaar will host the following:
I) International Co-Production Market: (26th November - 29th November 2008) The Film Bazaar Co-production Market will invite submissions for feature films and documentaries that are Indian centric and which will be seeking a global platform for international audiences. Selected projects will have the opportunity to seek collaboration in the realm of distribution and production with potential international and Indian partners.
In the films segment 15 feature film projects and in the newly introduced documentary section 10 documentary projects will be presented at the market for global audience.
II) Screenwriters’ Lab: (November 26th November – 30th November, 2008.)
The Screenwriters’ Lab will run concurrent to the Film Bazaar. In search for authentic Indian voices that are internationally appealing, this year the lab will be conducted by renowned guest mentors and will be held in association with Binger Filmlab: An Amsterdam based International Feature Film Development Centre. A select pool of Indian screenwriters will be individually mentored in the development of feature film screenplays. Seven screenplays will be selected and advised in their development by renowned guest mentors. Last year Film Bazaar had amongst others, mentors such as Academy award winning director Danis Tanovic (No Man's Land) and screenwriters Olivia Hetreed (Girl with a Pearl Earring) and Bernd Lichtenberg (Goodbye Lenin). Mani Ratnam was a guest mentor at last year’s workshop.
Binger FilmLab is an Amsterdam based international feature-film development centre where talented writers, directors, producers and script editors from around the world place their projects and their usual working practices within an inspiring environment of fellow film-makers, to be coached and supported by mentors and advisors.
The recently completed NFDC and NDTV Imagine co-production The White Elephant directed by Aijaz Khan and written by Ayeesha Menon was a screenplay successfully developed at Binger FilmLab.
Applications are open for the “Film Bazaar Co-production Market: Feature Films & Documentaries” & “Film Bazaar Screenwriters’ Lab” till August 25th, 2008.
III) Work-In Progress Workshop – A special knowledge sharing workshop will be conducted as a part of Film Bazaar for five pre-selected films at rough cut & story board stage. Each film will be mentored by 4-5 advisors drawn from India and abroad. Terms & Regulations for this workshop will be announced in August 2008.
III) Film Conclave & Business lounge: (26th November – 29th November 2008)
NFDC will organize The Film & Business Conclave on global industry developments in association with Screen International and will comprise of keynote address, seminars, and panel discussions.
Eminent Speakers from India & abroad including Danis Tanovic (No Man’s Land), Gary Hamilton from Arclight Films, Shekhar Kapur etc will elaborately discuss on various topics.
The Business Lounge aims at providing an interactive platform between prospective buyers and sellers of all film rights from India and abroad. Delegates can also avail of pitching sessions, master classes & screenings in this conclave.
Last year in Film Bazaar 40 international industry delegates from over 18 countries including industry stalwarts like Fortissimo Films, Pandora Films, Back – Up Films and Arclight Films and 298 other Indian producers participated.
