In 2010, a mega musical blockbuster would go on the floors in Bollywood. A period film based on the lives of the legendary music director duo - Shankar Jaikishan, who have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema, the film is all set to usher a new trend of bio pics in Bollywood, a trend which has been a rage overseas.

Research on this project has began over seven years now. Speaking exclusively to ProBollywood, writer - Director Sandeep Apte, who anchors this prestigious project told that this film is possibly the greatest challenge for any film maker anywhere in the world. Our entire team from all over the world has been chipping in - reading up, seeing, listening to the work of Shanker Jaikishen. We have also tried to meet many of their contemporaries like their assistant & independent Music Director Dattaram among others. Such 'biopic' subjects present the greatest of challenges and this is going to be a HUGE project with a global reach!"

The latest amongst the contemporaries of Shanker Jaikishan which this team met is Lekh Tandon - the director of films like Professor, Jhuk Gaya Aasman, Amrapali, Prince & Jahan Pyar Mile. "We have tried and captured in depth interviews of these great men on camera too!" says Sandeep, "In that sense, it is ironic that 'The Making' of ths film is happening before the actual film! We in India are very lackadaisical, almost indifferent about documentation and also our own history. But we decided to go about this project in style which would befit the work of Shanker Jaikishan."

A special appeal for contemporaries and fans of Shanker Jaikishan in particular and songs from retro hindi films in general - Please contact us with any information, photographs, footage etc. you may have! We would love to document that on camera!
