BEHANO AUR BHAIYO ... AMEEN SAYANI


THE GOLDEN ERA OF HINDI FILM MUSIC WILL REAPPEAR ON 26TH JANUARY

‘Behano aur Bhaiyo’ will be heard once again !

In the presence of all-time favourite Radio personality, Ameen Sayani’s, ‘Geetmala kay Amar Sangeetkar’ will come as a refreshing treat for the new year. In this programme, the memories of the great music directors of the golden era of Hindi film music will be rekindled. These sweet memories of the great music directors, refreshed by Ameen Sayani are being staged thanks to the initiative of music lovers Raju Katre, Mayoor Shah, Pradeep Bhide, Aashutosh Katre and Anjali Subhedar.

The fifties and sixties decades were the golden era of Hindi film music… what with unique singers Lata, Rafi, Kishore, Talat Mahmood and the likes! Naushad, Madan Mohan, Shankar-Jaikishan and so many others – each a class by himself as a music director!! From this combination of singers and music directors a wealth of immortal melodies was created – so vast that it would suffice a lifetime.

This treasure enriched our lives; we lived with it, grew up with it and were touched by it. In this period of 50s & 60s there was a link between this treasure of music and us. This link – the voice of Ameen Sayani, remembered forever for his famous ‘Pyare Behno aur Bhaiyo’ brought the treasure to us in a unique, endearing style. Earlier from Radio Ceylon and later from Vividh Bharati, Ameenji kept us enthralled with the immortal music.

The impact of this music of 50s & 60s is still as strong as before. And now history is going to unfold once again. That too on the occasion of the Republic Day, 26th January 2009, at the Shanmukhananda Hall, Sion at 6.30 pm; with Ameen Sayani being present! Accompanied by memories of outstanding music directors of the past in the form of audio / video clippings. During this programme, senior journalist Shri Ambrish Mishra will chat with Ameenji and will also anchor the show. The melodious songs will be rendered by Guarav Bangia, Shrikant Narayan, Vrushali Patil and Priya Joshi with Ajay Madan being in charge of music arrangement.

In this 4-hour extravaganza, which will take us back to the music of the golden era, several famous personalities like Asha Parekh, Ravi, Pyarelal, Anandji, Shabbir Kumar have been invited. Also dignitaries like Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh, former Chief Minister, Shri Eknath Thakur, Chairman, Saraswat Bank, Shri D.P. Mhaiskar, Chairman, Mhaiskar Foundation and many others will grace the occasion.

The event concept is by Creative Workshop and the audio - visual production is by Rajil Sayani. In short, in the form of Geetmala kay Amar Sangeetkar, history is being recreated !
