Thane MLA Pratap Sarnaik unveiled India's 1st 3D Documentary on Dahi handi titled "Vihag Mumbai Fast Govinda". On this auspicious occasion, producer and director of Marathi Industry Avdhoot Gupte was present with his famous movie cast Morya. There was also a special screenig held of Marathi movie Morya.

“Sarvanjanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal” From Mazgaon and “Jai Jawan Mitra Mandal” from Jogeshwari wore traditional Govinda Outfit & and performed on 9tier. It is an attempt to uplift the “Festival of Govinda” as a globalization act. It is in appreciation for the govindas in return of their hard work in a “3D Documentary”. And now the time has come when we come ahead to celebrate this festive Ocassion of "Dahi Handi" on Monday 22nd August in the cultural Heartland of Thane. And the Stage is designed by well know Art Director Nitin Chandrakanth Desai, who has worked on art direction for many famous movies like Devdas, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S and many more.


This year the festival of Gokulashtami falls on 22nd of August. It also happens to be the day that we in Maharashtra celebrate the festival with the organizing of the event of “Dahi Handi”. It will Be the richest handi in the City with approx. 1 crore Rs. Over the years, our event in Thane City has grown from strength to strength to become one of the largest in the country. Our event has grown from being not only just one of the richest in-terms of price monies, to being one of the most prestigious. It is the place where records are set, in terms of the biggest “Human Pyramids”. In fact last year, as reported by your organization and other media groups, the event led to the creation of a world record with the successful completion of a “Human Pyramid” of 9 tiers. This record was achieved by 2 different teams, in their attempt to reach the 45 feet high “Handi”It has become such a large event that in the last year we saw more than 50,000 people coming to the venue to witness the event. The Teams are encouraged and the visitors are entertained with a cultural event held at the venue, which will see the well-known artists of Marathi and Hindi Stage and Cinema performing. The stage will be designed by Nitin Chandrakanth Desai, one of India’s big names in the field of art direction and also we have tied up with the UFO group, who will shoot the whole event using “3D cameras”. We also have a plan of making a 3D documentary movie on the festival of dahi handi.This year with more than 150 teams vying for the prize and also the title of being the champion team in the city, we are planning to raise the bar even further and inspire the teams to do even better.Like every year, our event will comprise of 3 sections – The Mumbai Handi, the Women Only Handi and the Thane Only Handi. We expect that in the course of the full event which will start at 10 am on 22nd August and end at 10 pm on the same day, almost 150 teams will display their skills and abilities.
